Muay Thai and its history to explore by mt-c-th

Muay Thai (or just Thai boxing) is a form of martial arts. It gained much of its popularity in the 19th century and is now recognized as a sport by the International Olympic Committee. This national sport of Thailand is not only learned for physical health and fitness but is also played at a professional level by experts. W.M.F is a very famous show particularly popular amongst the children and aged generation since it is a cultural form of art present in Thailand since the 16th century.

The reason as to why it is called ‘art of eight limbs' is that in this form of martial arts, the whole body is used as a weapon against the opponents – the fists, elbows, knees and the shins. The same reason is behind its use as a health mantra. In the 20th century, these Muay Thai Warriors went on challenging professionals from other martial arts and won over many of the battles, which made them more famous and known to people.
History
Thailand was a country, not unlike India, divided into dynasties. In the mid 18th century, there was a clash between two of the most powerful dynasties of Thailand – the Burmese and the Siam, it was a very destructive conflict, but finally, the Burmese had won. They had captured the famous Nai Khanomtom. The Burmese king was well aware of his one on one fighting skills and so gave him a chance to fight one of his strongest men to get freedom. After winning the battle, Nai was allowed to go back to his dynasty, and he returned as a hero. He used the Siamese Style Boxing to fight, which was later called Muay Thai and developed into a national sport.
Since then there was no turning back, the Muay Thai art of fighting developed not only as an entertainment source but also a fitness seeking route. In 2006 the Thai government ordered that there must be free and compulsory primary teaching of Muay Thai in the children age group of 13 to 15 years.
Currently, the only official Muay Thai training camp is in Phuket, Thailand. Many people come here to learn this art at both professional levels and just for fitness.
